REDD-PAC project highlighted at Brazilian Symposium on Remote Sensing in Foz do Iguaçu

The REDD-PAC project was presented at a special session on "New Trends on Earth System Modelling" at the Brazilian Symposium on Remote Sensing, held in Foz do Iguaçu from 15-18 April 2013. The session discussed challenges related to empirical land system studies, land system modelling and the analysis of future visions of land system change. The presentation spoke about the science needed to combine the strengths of empirical analysis with multi-scale modelling and how to get to new insights into the processes driving land system change.

Aline Mosnier from IIASA gave a presentation on the GLOBIOM model and its use in the REDD-PAC project. Gilberto Câmara from INPE discussed the overall challenges of land use modelling. Patrick Hostert from Humboldt University (Berlin) discussed the links between remote sensing and land change modeling.
